Sheikh T.B Damba, 2nd National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party has criticized former President Rawlings for sounding contemptuous in the ongoing Ya-Na murder trial.
He observed that as a former President, Mr. Rawlings should have known better by allowing the Court to conclude the trial but rather chose to denigrate the judicial process during his recent visit to Tamale.
Sheikh T.B Damba was speaking on North Star Radio, a Tamale based radio station as part of his two weeks visit to the Northern Region with former Vice President Aliu Mahama whose mission is to celebrate Id-ul adha and to kick start the NPP campaign up north ahead of elections 2012. He advised Dagombas to watch out and shun self seeking politicians whose priority is to continually divide the Dagbon kingdom on Abudu and Andani lines for their parochial interest.
Sheikh T.B Damba also attacked government for what he referred to as its failure to fulfill its campaign promise of “putting money in people’s pockets and reducing fuel prices drastically.” The NPP 2nd National Vice Chairman asserted that the President John Mills’ led NDC administration has brought untold hardships on Ghanaians within its two years stay in office. According to him, a lot of Junior High School graduates have turned dropouts because their parents and guardians have low incomes to pay the obligatory fees for their continuation.
He concluded that the NDC administration lacked the expertise to manage the economy for which reason the electorate should reject the party come the 2012 general elections.
Sheikh T.B Damba further implored NPP members to avoid complacency and embark on a nationwide door-to-door campaign to enable Nana Akufo Ado and all the party’s would be Parliamentary candidates come out with a landslide victory at the next elections. He disclosed former Vice President Aliu Mahama’s intention to meet with all NDC members who recently announced their defection to the NPP in the Tamale metropolis.
