The management of the Asante Presbytery Bible School of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has underlined the need to step up theological education among the laity. The Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni- Frimpong, the Chairman, said more should be done to build the capacity of its human resources to advance the ecumenical agenda of the church. The Bible School was established primarily to make theological training accessible to members in the Northern parts of the country, following the relocation of the Trinity Theological Seminary to Accra in 1942. Speaking at a graduation ceremony of the School in Kumasi, the Chairman said the establishment of the seminary in Accra has over the years made significant contribution to theological education and the growth of Christianity in the Southern sector. He appealed for increased support from philanthropists and corporate bodies for the school to expand its facilities and make its programmes easily available to members of the church and the public. Ten (10) people graduated and received Diploma Certificates in Theology after the two-year course. Reverend Akwasi Adu-Nyantakyi, the Registrar, commended the graduates and urged them to live the bible teachings and become good example to the rest of society.
