Ghanaian Christians ushered in the New Year with watch-night church services during which they prayed; sang, danced and praised God for the mercies and blessings He bestowed on the country in the past year.
At the Ghana Police Church in Accra, the Chaplain General, the Very Reverend Superintendent Frank D. Twum-Baah asked Christians to see themselves as God’s portion and the apple of His eye and so He was going to protect them in the New Year.
“See yourself as the apple of God’s eye. See yourself as God’s portion and He is going to protect you. Once God has been with us He is going to protect us,” he said.
Very Reverend Twum-Baah said it took discipline to become spiritual and urged Christians to live in obedience to God’s laws, adding; “we can achieve what we have planned because God is with us. The favour of God is with us”.
The Very Reverend Dr J.M.Y. Edusa-Eyison, a Minister of the Church, said God’s grace availed for Christians, stressing, “God will be with us in 2011 and there shall be victory and no one is going to stop us”.
He said the beneficiaries of God’s favour have to play a part in Divine plans for them, adding; “success doesn’t come unconditionally. Obey God’s laws to be successful. There are no short-cuts. God will provide the strength. Obey the checks of the conscience”.
The Reverend Andrew J.T. Odjawo, also of the Church, said God was going to shower his favour on Christians and take away the reproach of 2010, assuring; “do not let your dream die. Allow God to move through you to achieve your destiny. God’s favour is going to come on God’s children”.
