Akim Swedru (E/R), Sept 30, GNA - The Akim Swedru circuit court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah, refused bail for the second appearance and placed in prison custody a 25-year-old driver who lured a 12-year-old class six girl into an abandoned kiosk and allegedly forcibly had sex with her.
The accused, Vincent Adzi, had earlier denied the charge of defilement and would reappear before the court on October 20.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Charles N. Quaye, said the victim lived at Akim Oda, while the accused person resided at Amantra, a suburb of Akim Oda.
On August 26, 2010 at about 1100 hours, the victim who was selling yams reached Amantra and the accused called the girl to his house under the pretence of buying some of the yam.
He said the accused lured her by saying if the victim allowed him to have sex with her he would give her a huge amount of money to sell meat-pie instead of selling yam.
Inspector Quaye said when the accused was about to pull her through uncompleted building, a witness in the case then telephoned the Akim Oda Divisional Crime Officer to come to the scene.
On his arrival, the Crime Officer arrested Adzi and took him to the Police Station.
