Kade, Sept. 30, GNA - The Kade District Magistrate Court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu has on Thursday remanded into prison custody Yaw Manu, a farmer.
He was charged with possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. His plea was not taken and he will re-appear on October 12.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, the prosecutor, told the court that the police on September 23 had information that a group of people had gathered in a house at Kubease in Kade and were smoking India hemp.
He said the police conducted a swoop on the house and the accused and another suspect were arrested.
They were searched three rolls of dried leaves suspected to be India hemp, four packets of cigarettes, three packets of Rizia smoking wrappers and a box of matches were found on the accused who lived in that house.
He was taken to the police station and during interrogation, he admitted the offence in his caution statement.
