Driver Remanded In Custody For Resisting Arrest Website
Francis Djaba, a driver who was alleged to have resisted arrest, had been remanded in custody by the Awutu District Magistrate Court to re-appear on March 11, 2008. He was charged with two counts of offensive conduct and resisting arrest. Djaba pleaded not guilty to the charge of offensive conduct, but pleaded guilty to that of resisting arrest. Police Inspector Seth Enyah, told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Ahiabor, that the accused was on board a vehicle with registration number GE 5680 Y and on reaching a section of the Kasoa-Bawjiase Road, the Police check point stopped his vehicle. He said Djaba, who was not happy for being stopped, insulted the policemen on duty. Inspector Enyah said he was ordered to proceed to the police station but he refused and resisted arrest and in the process dirtied the shirt of a Sergeant.
