Winners of this year's Write Away Contest in a short ceremony have been presented with their prizes. Presenting the prizes Nii Amah Dagadu Programmes Manager at Citi FM expressed the deepest appreciation to the children and their parents for their devotion to the spirit of the competition.
He added that the top three winners would be leaving the country in mid January for the one week educational trip of the United Kingdom. All ten finalists were given certificates, dictionaries and story books donated by Unimax Macmillan.
A computer and its accessories was also presented to the school of the winning student. Schools of all ten winning children were also presented with an assortment of books meant for their library.
Mrs. Helena Hagan, the mother of the 1st prize winner Ewurabena Hagan, speaking on the behalf of the other parents thanks the sponsors for their support for the campaign to encourage children to read and write. She added that her daughter's disposition had changed making her more confident speaking in public. Some of the winners said they had noticed significant transformations in their academic work.
The Write Away Contest was organised by Citi FM and sponsored by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Perfect Business Systems, Unimax Macmillan, Cadbury Bournvita and Unique Trust Financial Services.
